Riverside Middle School 8th-grade student Brylan Hoxworth won first place in the Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District Photography Contest.

Her photo, Beauty in a Storm, was the overall winner for 8th-grade.

The judges were impressed by the color and interesting composition.

Guitar classes, jazz ensemble entertain at winter concert

Rudge Arnold's guitar classes and the 8th-grade Jazz Ensemble, directed by Kevin Styles, held a winter concert on Dec. 11.

Musician Dave Lange, father of Arnold's guitar student Jace Lange, made a special guest appearance.

Kephira Davis and Sydney Johnson performed a choral duet.

Riverside Middle School celebrated Spirit Week to raise money for local charities.

Students wore hats and pajamas and ended the week with Tacky Christmas Sweater Day.

A guest speaker from DHEC spoke to the Riverside Middle School 7th-grade science classes. The students learned about conserving resources and the impact they have on the planet.
