RMS students big success at Festival Disney

 Riverside Middle School Performing Arts students were a big success at Festival Disney last month.

Concert Band, Symphony, Guitar Ensemble and Chorus all performed for nationally acclaimed adjudicators. Each group participated in a Disney Music Workshop — which included sight-reading, discussion about generic preparations in life, what it takes to be successful in life not only in music, but in any profession. Students also prepared and participated in professional recordings.

Band — Superior Rating: Middle School band category; top award — Second Best in Class — Superior. (Two school trophies and medals for students.) String Orchestra — Excellent rating: (School trophy and medals for students])

Chorus — Excellent Rating: (School trophy and medals for students)

Guitar — enrolled to receive comments only: (School trophy and medal for students).  RMS Guitar Ensemble was the only Guitar Ensemble during the festival weekend.

Art students complete Career Choice drawings

Eighth-grade art students researched a career they have interest in and then styled the letters of the career with objects that go along with that career. Students participating in the Career Choice drawing were: Jacob Elrod (Marines), Sofica Siddiqui (doctor), Mackenzie Taylor (YouTube Host), Jesse Jones (architect), Mary Beth Greene (teacher) ,Gianna Britton (teacher).

RMS students place in Juried Art Show

Riverside Middle School art students placed in the Greenville County Schools Juried Art Show. The categories were painting, drawing, printmaking, design/mixed media, 3-D. The students were: Tate Steele, 6th-grade, 2nd place printmaking; Faith Hubbard-6th grade, honorable mention, design/mixed media; Sarah Bagwell-6th grade, 1st place drawing, 3rd place painting; Emily Mauldin-6th grade, honorable mention printmaking; Wyatt Armstrong, 7th-grade, honorable mention, printmaking; Kelsie Harden--8th grade, honorable mention, design/mixed media.
