Shelnutt joins United Community Bank as Senior VP

David Shelnutt has joined United Community Bank as senior vice president and manager of its new Structured Finance Department. He will develop and oversee the Structured Finance Group, which will originate and administer loans, monitor collateral and support market lenders across the bank’s footprint. 

“David has a wealth of experience in successfully implementing asset-based programs, and we are delighted he will be leading our new team. He will be instrumental in our business development efforts as well as helping us to provide better service to our clients,” said Charles D. Chamberlain, director of corporate banking for UCB.

Shelnutt has spent most of his 42-year banking career in Greenville, most recently as senior VP and director of ABL for Park Sterling Bank.

Shelnutt earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Georgia Southern University and his master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is a past member of the national Board of Directors for the Commercial Finance Association and previously served as the organization’s Director for the Carolinas Chapter. Shelnutt has also served in the Turnaround Management Association.

Shelnutt’s wife, Lisa, is a Commercial Real Estate Relationship Manager at UCB. The couple lives in Greenville.
