Spartanburg Regional HealthCare System has been recognized for excellent cardiovascular care.

SRHS received an ACTION Registry — Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Performance Achievement Award in 2014 by the National Cardiovascular Data Registry.

The award signifies that the hospital has reached an aggressive goal of treating coronary artery disease patients with 85 percent compliance to core standard levels of care outlined by the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

Hospitals must consistently follow the treatment guidelines of ACTION Registry — GWTG for at least 24 consecutive months in order to receive a Gold Performance Achievement Award.

These guidelines include use of medications, including:

• Cholesterol-lowering drugs
• Beta-blockers
• ACE inhibitors
• Aspirin
• Anti-coagulants

SRHS was ranked No. 1 in the state for overall heart care by Healthgrades in 2013 and 2014.

The Heart Center offers a wide range of services from emergency care to open heart surgery, rehabilitation and prevention. The team is among the most experienced in South Carolina in computer-guided open-heart surgery, using the latest techniques and tools to avoid open-heart surgery. The teams also use the latest medical advancements to perform heart catheterizations, and pacemaker and defibrillator implantations.

"This award confirms that we provide top-notch cardiac care at Spartanburg Medical Center," said Phil Feisal, president of Spartanburg Medical Center.
