Austin Taylor Vandiver gets some alone time after meeting the media as the first baby of 2014 born at St. Francis Hospital.
Austin weighed in at 8 pounds and 4 ounces.
“I knew we’d be close to being the New Year’s baby when I started having contractions just after midnight as we were watching New Year’s celebrations on TV,” Christina said. “We’re very excited and I like the attention our sweet baby boy is getting as he begins his life.”
“I was thrilled when I got the early morning call. This is an exciting and joyous time for the parents as it is always whether we had the first baby born in the county or not. The New Year baby just adds even more excitement and the added attention creates media frenzy not typical with your everyday birth” said Sharon Johnson, Media and Community Coordinator with Bon Secours St. Francis.
