NON-SMOKERS SUPPORT: Nicotine Anonymous, a support group for those who have a desire to stop using tobacco, will meet from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays in the Village of Pelham Medical Office Building conference room one. The meeting is free and open to the public. Call 864-560-4472.


ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP: The Alzheimer’s Association hosts support group meetings for family care partners from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at Greer Memorial Hospital at 8:30 S. Buncombe Road in the private dining room at the garden level. Call Emily Torres at 918-8058 or Alzheimer’s Association at 250-0029. Free in-home sitters are available upon request. DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT: Learn to control this disease in the Diabetes Self-Management Education program Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Village at Pelham Hospital Community Center. A physician’s referral is required and insurance will be filed for program cost. Participants receive a free blood glucose meter and diabetes reference book. PLASTIC SURGERY: The Village at Pelham Hospital will host Face, Breast and Body: Plastic Surgery for You on Tuesday, Aug. 30 noon-1 p.m., lunch provided, or 6:30 p.m. coffee and dessert, at the Community Center. Shawn Birchenough, M.D. of Magnolia Plastic Surgery, will discuss non-invasive, minimally invasive and surgical techniques in aesthetic plastic surgery. CLASS FOR AD/HD: An AD/HD class for parents of children with the disease will begin in mid-September in the Medical Office Building across from the Village of Pelham on S. Hwy. 14. The seven-week class costs $90 per couple and includes 14 hours of instruction two hours per week. A year’s membership in the Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is free. Scholarships are available. Call Julie Carithers at 864-334-5475 or [email protected].
