Song selections for Greer Teen Idol performers for Saturday’s competition at the City of Greer Freedom Blast.

Nick Boggs

Because: “It represents God, family and country.”

Cody Young

Song: “Proud to be an American” (lyrics by Lee Greenwood)

Because: “It’s one of my favorite patriotic songs.”

Hayley Welch

Song: “It’s America” (lyrics by Rodney Atkins)

Because: “Of its upbeat tempo and lyrics that describe living in the South.”

Charly Roper

Song: “Mama’s Broken Heart” lyrics by Miranda Lambert)

Gracie Bryant

Song: American Girls” (lyrics by Tom Petty)

Bethany Ghent

Song: “Star Spangled Banner”

Because: “It is all part of the scene. I do a lot for veterans. I sang at my school last year to the Purple Hearts – veterans of Viet Nam and World II. My pa pa is a veteran of Viet Nam.”

Anna McCleer

Song: “What do you Say?” (lyrics by Anna McCleer)

Because: “I wrote that song to give thanks for what we have because of the soldiers. I have a lot of family that have been apart of the Army. I give thanks to them.”

Because: “It symbolizes America. My mother and several aunts served in the Navy.”
