Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence received the 2019 Blanchard-Rogers Trophy from the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame for its annual collegiate player of the year.

The event, originally scheduled to be presented at the 2020 Enshrinement Ceremony in April, was postponed due to the COVID-19 virus, and was livestreamed Thursday.

See Lawrence’s acceptance of the award here.

The Blanchard-Rogers Trophy is named after Doc Blanchard (McColl) and George Rogers (University of South Carolina) who are two Heisman Trophy winners with South Carolina ties.  Blanchard won the Heisman in 1945 while at Army and George Rogers took home the trophy in 1980. Both Blanchard (Class of 2017) and Rogers (Class of 2013) are also inductees of the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame.

This year’s Hall of Fame selection will be enshrined in 2021. They are:

• Art Baker, Presbyterian College head football coach

• Charlie Waters, Clemson defensive back • Robert Porcher, South Carolina State defensive end

• Steve Spurrier, University of South Carolina head football coach • Willie Scott, University of South Carolina, tight end.
