Two killed, two injured in crash at Greenville Downtown Airport

Published on Thursday, September 27, 2018

Two people were killed and two were injured Thursday when a small jet broke apart when it went off a runway at  the Greenville Downtown Airport.

Coroner Jeff Fowler said one person died at the scene and the other died at the hospital. Fowler said the person who died at the scene was trapped in the wreckage.

According to WYFF 4, Airport Director Joe Frasher said two crew members and two passengers were on board — three men and one woman. Three people were taken to the hospital. There was no immediate word on the condition of the two survivors.

Frasher said he saw the plane land and it appeared to be a normal landing, but that the plane was then unable to stop. The plane went off the runway through a fence, down an embankment and then crashed onto Airport Road where it broke apart.

According to its registration, the jet is a Falcon 50 owned by a Delaware company.
