The Greenville County Sheriff’s Department reported it has obtained a video that describes a person who allegedly vandalized a 9/11 memorial at Upstate Granite Solutions at 2840 New Easley Highway as a tribute on the 20th anniversary of the event.

The person, believed to be a white male, was described wearing a dark hat, white shirt and dark pants who wrote “Taliban” with spray paint on the memorial, according to Lt. Ryan Flood of the GCSO. The suspect pulled up in a grey SUV at the business around 7:30 a.m, on Sunday, Sept. 12.

The vehicle headed towards Pickens County on New Easley Highway, according to the GCSO.

The company constructed a granite monument of the twin towers, surrounded by hundreds of American flags, with a light beam to the sky.
