A memorial has been placed at the entrance to Cannon's Restaurant on Trade Street.

 

• Obituary

Virgil Cannon, owner of Cannon’s Restaurant at 409 Trade Street, died Thursday morning. He was 76.

A memorial has been placed at the entry of the restaurant, that has been closed since Thursday.

Cannon was a community icon and known for feeding the homeless and providing for others in need of food or a place to stay.

Funeral plans are incomplete.
