The Yellow Jackets celebrate the 12-under championship they won tonight at Greer City Stadium.

A player from the Upstate Jackets is being taken from the field by paramedics. He complained of neck pain after being injured midway in the third quarter of the 12-under game at Greer City Park.
Players in youth leagues are not allowed to rush the kicker on points after touchdown kicks. The kicking team must lay flat on the ground and the defense is allowed to shout, wave their arms and try to distract the kicker.
The Yellow Jackets beat the Upstate Jackets, 22-8, in the late game. The Devildogs beat the Braniacs 33-13, scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
A player for the Upstate Jackets was injured midway in the third quarter and told coaches he was having neck pain. He was lifted by coaches and carried to the sideline so the game could continue. One play almost spilled over the sideline to where the player was being attended.
Paramedics were called and the player was taken to Greenville Children’s Hospital, according to a coach. “We’re told in the coaches meeting when a player complains of neck pain not to take off his helmet,” the coach said.
There was no report late tonight on the player’s condition.
Julius Thompson, who played defensive line for the Yellow Jackets, said, “My team was great and we have a good offensive line.”
Thompson and the Yellow Jackets kept Upstate out of the end zone in the final three quarters. He played a big role in helping control the line of scrimmage. “I do what the coaches tell me. They tell me to go up the field.”
The Yellow Jackets won the first meeting between the teams, 2-0.
Greer High School Head Football Coach Will Young attended the game. Players from both teams are likely to play their high school football at Greer.
Brooks Martin, who scored a touchdown for Travelers Rest, said, “I had good blocking and ran to the right. “
Trevor Hickey said, “It feels great to win the championship. We had faith we would win.”
The Devildogs were treated to dinner at Fuddruckers on their way home.
