Spartanburg Medical Center (SMC) has been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery by Healthgrades in 2016 and is in the top five percent in the nation for cardiac surgery.
“Every day we come to work and provide the best care for our patients, so we are ecstatic to receive this recognition. Even though the award spotlights heart surgery, it’s a reflection on the entire institution,” said Dr. Jason Rousseau, cardiothoracic surgeon, Medical Group of the Carolinas—Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

Happy first week of July and hopefully happy two good weeks into Plexus. More than anything I am thrilled with how great I feel and the energy I've had since I started.
I have had some clients who understand the importance of six small meals a day, but others who cannot, due to their schedule, follow that routine. We know this can work but if the plan isn't followed it won't work.
I began to research other ways to lose weight quickly and safely without having to change eating patterns. I didn't say without changing unhealthy eating habits, just eating habits/patterns that could either stand alone or coincide with what we are doing now.

Happy Friday.

It’s easy to be grateful for the big moments in your life, but in the day-to-day craziness, sometimes we forget to be grateful for all of the people and the little things in life that make us happy.
Besides being grateful for my family . . . especially my late mother, Bobbie Wood Hawkins, I am grateful for good health.
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter, blessed with family and friends throughout the day.
Our minister at Greer First Presbyterian, Brandi Casto-Waters, gave a beautiful sermon and during it, she asked us to feel our pulse stating, “This is life, rejoice and give thanks for it each day.”
I wanted to share with you an excerpt from an inspiring book entitled "The Pebble in the Shoe".
Jim Fannin is a sports performance coach and is considered the best in the world. These same principals can always be applied to our weight loss journey as well as other aspects of our life, things we want to accomplish, but for some reason we can't.
Robert Collier states "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."
Does that sound simple enough? Apply this principle to any aspect of your life and you will see that it is absolutely true. Apply it to your weight loss journey, and you will see the same thing . . . success.
March is days from being over, goodness, cold weather and all. I know that weather can play a role when you are trying to get motivated to lose weight or anything else. It certainly does for me.
If you are on track and/staying on track, wonderful, please shoot me a quick reply to let me know. If you are struggling to get started again or to stay on track, call me or shoot me a quick email to say, "help, call me". I'm more than happy to. I can't help you if I don't know that you are having any difficulties or can't celebrate your successes.
I'd love to share with you (or remind you if you are currently working towards getting your weight off and just need a little encouragement) the great things about this program. It helps to re-teach what we have been taught all our lives – “to eat three square meals a day."
This is about changing or replacing your old eating habits to six smaller meals and the process is called the 5&1 plan, 5 low-calorie, low-glycemic Medifast Meals and 1 Lean and Green meal each day, eating 6 smaller meals a day allows your metabolism to kick off and stay running all day long. I've attached the Quick Start Guide for details. Also please visit my website.

Holy fat grams.
Thank goodness Monday is here, I rarely say that, but if you think about being snowed in your house for a few days, and then marching straight into Valentine’s weekend . . . I can't even think about the temptations that were out there for you and me.
Quote of the day from Dr. Andersen's 12-week Transformation Challenge: “You have three choices in life: give up, give in, or give it all you’ve got."
This quote can be applied to every aspect of your life, can't it? So today, Jan. 22, where are you in this weight loss journey?
Sam Parker and Mac Anderson state in their remarkable book, “The Extra Degree”, "At 211 degrees water is hot. At 212 degrees it boils. And with boiling water, comes steam. And steam can power a locomotive. And, it's that one extra degree that makes all the difference."
Are you ready to add the extra degree to make optimal health a priority through the holidays, and into the new year with the added bonus of a new skinny self and feeling great?
Happy, Happy New Year.
As we bring 2013 to an end, I want to thank you all for choosing to be a part of this journey for weight loss and optimal health.
David Zerfoss, author of “Stress is a Choice” states that several years ago while listening to his pastor give a Sunday sermon, he spoke about how life is made up of a series of choices.
“It made me realize that my hectic professional and personal life was of my choosing. Therefore, a life of stress had become my choice. That’s a liberating concept because if stress is a choice, you can choose not to have it."
I know we’re all getting in the spirit of the holiday festivities and food plays a major part of those. I know. Don’t panic. Try to stay on your plan the best you can even if you’re going to a Christmas party in the next day or so.
The best thing to do to prepare yourself for the temptation is to drink one of your shakes before you head out the door. It’s light but filling so you won’t go starved to your get together.
