Greer City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday to discuss the permanent suspension of Upstate Wrecker Service from the city’s wrecker rotation. The wrecker service was suspended from the city’s rotation on April 1 and the suspension expired on April 15.
Lt. Matt Hamby, in a letter sent to Police Chief Dan Reynolds, is requesting permanent suspension on several issues:
Two people were found shot dead in Greer Thursday afternoon.
Greer City and Greenville County police report a body of a man and woman were found in the backyard of their house on West Church Street. Their identities were not released.

Corporal Scott Broome and officers Wesley Keller, John Ruple and Jim Williams, all with the Greer Police Department, were honored at the 8th annual DUI Enforcement Recognition & 2012 Law Enforcement DUI Challenge Ceremonies in Columbia. They represented the 13th Circuit (Greenville and Pickens counties).
When Brian Wingard joined the Greer Police Department he mentioned that he was a member of the South Carolina National Guard and told his superiors it could mean imminent deployment.
Wingard was in fact called to duty and he joined a list of Greer police staff that has served in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
