The Greer Commission of Public Works (CPW) reported it has begun replacing a natural gas pipeline on Memorial Drive Extension that is suspended over Frohawk Creek.
Significant flooding in August washed out the bridge near the intersection of Chandler Road and Taylor Road and caused a 96-inch drainage pipe to collapse. Two vehicles fell into the hole while attempting to cross the washed out road. Two people were injured and the gas pipeline was exposed.
Trash pickup in greater Greer and neighboring Greenville and Spartanburg counties are on a holiday schedule.
Thieves are not.

The bridge at Hammett Bridge Road has been tagged twice during the weekend. The graffiti was rubbed over Saturday after the first event and a fresh and more widespread tagging occurred late Sunday evening.

The Greer PD provide underprivileged children toys for Christmas through monetary donations and toys contributed.
City of Greer employees contributed $366 to the Cops for Tots program Dec. 5 through ticket sales to Supper with Santa.
Santa and his elves were on hand as City Administrator Ed Driggers (left) presented the check to police chief Dan Reynolds. The event, for city employees and their families, was started in 2013 to increase ticket availability for Breakfast with Santa and raise funds for a good cause. The supper began Christmas in Greer activities.
