The businesses thanked the first responders, the first responders thanked the businesses and everybody thanked the families, spouses and acquaintances of the fire, police and emergency medical services on Thursday night.
The third annual Greer Public Safety Appreciation Dinner on Thursday was an occasion for the business community to celebrate and say “Thank you” to first responders.
Sgt. Chad Richardson reported the first haul of unwanted medicines gathered from the drug locker at the Greer Police Department weighed 36 pounds.
“Those are not pills in their containers, I emptied all the containers before weighing them,” Richardson said. “ Two batches of medicine were also picked up from independent McLeskey-Todd and Professional Pharmacy. “They ran the gamut from aspirins to prescription medicines.”
The Greer Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) Alumni Association honored Lt. Jimmy Holcombe, the founder of the successful and growing volunteer organization.
“Lt. Holcombe was honored for his hard work and outstanding dedication to the program and its volunteers,” stated Angie Childers, one of the first graduates and a volunteer since. “He has shown great enthusiasm and passion with each new CPA class.”
