As a retired cop, Thomas Slovenski, has a national concealed weapons permit. He anticipates trouble and that includes when he’s traveling.
“I know what goes on out there,” Slovenski said. “I know everything is not good and I know where you go, trouble is coming anytime.”
The Greer Fire Department reported a controlled burn by the forestry department is the reason smoke is hovering over the greater Greer area.
“Just about every fire department in the Upstate has been out looking for fires,” Lt. Dwayne Brown, at the GFD said Sunday evening. “We’ve been out looking for about 30 fires, Boiling Springs has and others.”
Greer is rated the fourth-best place to start a business in South Carolina, according to NerdWallet, a personal finance website.
Jeff Chu, the analyst who conducted the study, cited business climate (average revenue of businesses, percentage of businesses with paid employees and number of businesses per 100 people, and local economic health (median annual income, median annual housing costs and unemployment rate).
Greer High School grads from every generation will be holding their annual reunion on Saturday, May 16 at Greer City Hall. The event is free.
