The City of Greer was recognized Friday for exceptional safety standards as the winner of District 3 awards from both the South Carolina Municipal Insurance Trust (SCMIT) and the South Carolina Municipal Insurance and Risk Financing Fund (SCMIRF).
Venyke Harley, loss control manager for SCMIT and SCMIRF, and loss control consultant Meredith Kaiser visited the City of Greer’s Safety Breakfast to present the awards that are based on a municipality’s annual loss experience in the self-funded programs.
Greer Commission of Public Works and the Greer Police Department will host a drug take back day on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
“The Greer Police Department has done this effort for many years, but the first time partnering with CPW,” GPD Sgt. Chad Richardson said. “We think this is the perfect partnership because we do not want prescription drugs in the wrong hands and (CPW) does not want pills being flushed down the drain.”
Seventeen bike racks have been delivered to the City of Greer as part of its long-term walking and bike trails master plan.
The racks are an investment from Partnership for Tomorrow, a think tank of Greer leaders who helps steer the city’s future development and quality of life.
