Logging truck crashes into building, 4 people sent to hospital, 11 vehicles damaged

A logging truck that crashed into a building on Highway 14 sent four people to the hospital and involved 11 vehicles, according to the Greer Police Department.
The accident occurred about 2 p.m. at Hwy. 14 and Chandler Road when the cab of the logging truck crashed into Jimmy’s Garage and the trailer landed on its side, according to officials.
Project Rx expands year-round drug disposal to Greer Memorial Hospital

It hadn’t been five minutes after Project RX Drop Box ceremoniously opened its first permanent 24/7 drug disposal box at Greer Memorial Hospital when law enforcement and health officials witnessed its value.
Donna Bennett of Taylors asked if the drop box was available on Sunday. She wanted to safely dispose of unused medicine that remained after the death of her mother. “We get our prescriptions from Rite Aid and they wouldn’t take them,” Bennett said. “It was the same thing when my father died.”
Spartanburg County task force launched to implement innovative strategy to tackle domestic violence

The state’s newest, and, to date, its only focused deterrence-based effort to combat domestic violence – Home Front – was launched Wednesday.
In a courtroom filled with local, state, and federal law enforcement and victim advocates, 7th Circuit Solicitor Barry Barnette, along with Acting U.S. Attorney Beth Drake, officially launched the initiative. It is only the fourth program in the nation to implement innovative strategy and the first to attempt it countywide.

Despite the cold and rain, the Greer Christmas Parade, kicked off at 2:30 this past Sunday, with nearly 70 entries.
Unfortunately the Blue Ridge High School and Greer High School marching bands were unable to attend due to the weather condition's effect on instruments and uniforms. Many band members came out to watch the parade and ride on other floats to support their schools.

The Greer Christmas Parade is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start Sunday – rain or shine, according to Greer Relief Executive Director Caroline Robertson.
The weather forecast is calling for 100 percent chance of rain with a high of 45 degrees Sunday.
