The 10th anniversary of the Blue Ridge Savings bank robbery and triple murder, that claimed the life of Greer's Sylvia Holtzclaw, will be commemorated Thursday, May 16 at 1 p.m. at the City Park Amphitheater.
The Holtzclaws founded the Syl Syl Toy Drive that draws community support in memory of Sylvia Holtzclaw.
Greer’s Sylvia Holtzclaw, and Spartanburg couple James “Eb” and Margaret Barnes were fatally shot during a robbery in the single-wide mobile home that housed the bank.
Holtzclaw, 56, was the lone teller inside the bank and the Barneses were customers. Eb Barnes, 61, was a physics professor and coordinator of the program at the University of South Carolina Upstate. His wife, Margaret, 58, was a receptionist and convention coordinator for the National Beta Club.
Greer police and the FBI continue their joint investigation into the homicides. Greer police keeps a poster in clear view in the lobby asking for information for the arrest and conviction of the criminal(s) involved in the crime.
Greer Police Chief Dan Reynolds, joining the department in 2005, two years after the crime, Matt Witt of the Greenville FBI, Robbie Gravely and David Holtzclaw, son of Sylvia, will speak at the service. They will light four candles with others joining in the ceremony.

Greer Det. Dale Arterburn, FBI Special Victims Det. Pam Gregory, Spartanburg County Solicitor Barry Barnette are among those scheduled to attend.
In the event of inclement weather the service will be held at Greer First Baptist Church.
