2 Alzheimer's, dimentia free public meetings this week

Published on Monday, June 10, 2024

Two support groups meeting for Alzheimer’s and dementia are scheduled for free this week.

The bi-monthly discussion about typical “behaviors” that people with brain changes may encounter, is scheduled Wednesday 2-3 p.m., at Appalachian Council of Governments (ACOG), 30 Century Circle, Greenville.

The unique Husband Support Group meets Friday from 1-2 p.m. at 255 Enterprise Blvd., on the Patewood Hospital campus, Greenville, in conference Room A. Call Diana Jahries at 864-454-8120 (main office) or 864-454-8315 (direct line).

This week’s theme at ACOG is “I need/want to go home!” As brain changes occur, communication becomes more difficult for both the care receiver and caregiver.  Discussions will be on why these behaviors might occur and how to cope with these challenging moments.

April’s session, “Repetitive Behaviors” is featured on the website – Strength.care – and is written by Julia Eldred.

The discussion is open to all individuals. Call Dorinne Dubois at 864-242-9733 for more information.
