Aldi is opening its Greer store on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The store, at 1050 W. Wade Hampton Blvd., is scheduled for its grand opening festivities which, includes samples and prizes.
The Greer Aldi is part of a two-store opening that day and will be the third opened in the greater Greer area this month.
ALDI is hosting a hiring event to staff its stores in Greenville, Greer and Taylors. It will serve to fill positions at the new 17,000-square-foot store being built at Poinsett and Wade Hampton Blvd., and its Taylors and Woodruff Road stores.
Thom Behtz, ALDI Jefferson division vice president, answered a series of questions about ALDI’s coming into the Greer market. Behtz explains the store’s decision where to locate, when it will open, the store model, and the company’s purchasing philosophy.
Jim Fair: The main entry into the property will be from Mt. Vernon Road, while ALDI will face Wade Hampton Blvd. Why is a side entrance and a traffic signal at the store’s entrance part of its selection philosophy? What goes into site selection for ALDI in a community?
Aldi is entering the Greer market with a 17,000-square-foot grocery store to be built at Poinsett and Wade Hampton Blvd, at the former site of the D & D Motors used car lot.
The store will occupy 1.9 acres of the 7.9-acre parcel. The remaining six acres will be developed later.
