Jerry Balding has filed to run for Greer Commission of Public Works.

Jay Arrowood and Wryley Bettis, incumbents from Greer City Council and Jerry Balding, a candidate for Commissioner of Public Works filed today for the July 24 municipal election. Filing began at noon today and continues through April 20 at noon.

Arrowood, District One councilman, is seeking a third term. Bettis, District Five councilman, is seeking his fourth. It is Balding’s first entry into politics.

Arrowood runs Ala Construction-Restoration in Greer, a residential construction company. He has served as a volunteer firefighter with the Greer Fire Department.

Bettis is chairman of the board for the Greer Development Corporation and runs a hardware store in Travelers Rest. He is the former owner of McCleskey-Todd Pharmacy on Main Street.

Balding announced his intent to file last week and made it formal today. Balding is retired after 20 years as general manager at Greer CPW.

Williams publicly announced his candidacy at a Greer City Council meeting in late February when summer dates for the municipal election was given its first reading. Williams has yet to file.
