Greer Middle College Charter High School has named its athletic director and boys head basketball coach for the 2018-2019 school year.
Kelley Bailey will be the athletic director and Jamar Armstrong, the new boys varsity coach.
“We are happy to have Coach Bailey lead our athletic department starting in the 18-19 school year,” said principal Jimmy Armstrong. “She has been a great asset in facilitating our student government association and she will provide those same efforts in our athletic department.”
Jamar Armstrong, the new boys varsity coach, was the assistant varsity boys basketball coach at Greenville High School and the head 9th grade boys basketball coach. Greenville finished the 17-18 season as region champions with a 21-3 record. The 9th grade boys team finished undefeated at 18-0.
“We are very proud and thankful for the work Coach Armstrong has put in with our school, basketball program, and community,” Greenville head coach Mike Anderson said. “We hate to lose him but he is ready to lead his own program, and has been a big part of our success. We wish him nothing but the best and look forward to following him as he works to turn around the GMC program.”
“We are lucky to have this caliber of a person to coach our young men at GMC. Coach Armstrong will make our boys basketball program better and competitive moving forward said acting GMC Athletic Director, James Dillard.
Bailey will continue as GMC’s college seminar instructor. Armstrong will continue in his capacity as Title I Intervention Specialist at Cherrydale Elementary School.
