“If I can get one vote out of this it’s worth it,” Balding said. “It’s a good opportunity to get to know and talk to people.”
Balding, retired general manager for Greer CPW, said he is frequently asked to lower utility rates. “That’s a natural request. They get a bill every month and want it to be as low as possible.”
Elizabeth Wood, an employee and entertainer at The Stomping Grounds, said she wanted to visit on her off day to meet the candidate. “I’m a supporter and I’m interested to learn more about Mr. Balding,” Wood, 23, said.
Shannon Stone and Hal Ward were visiting from outside Greer. Balding invited them to tell their friends from Greer about his candidacy and sought their votes. He handed out brochures and business cards to guests.
