Greer's match-up Friday at Travelers Rest is shaping up into a battle of running backs.
The Yellow Jackets hit the road to take on the Devildogs and their sensational senior ball carrier Xavier Terry.
Terry is one of the state's leading rushers, 754 yards and 12 touchdowns, in his team's first four games.
"He's an excellent running back," Greer Head Coach Will Young, said. "He runs extremely hard, has good vision, and does an excellent job. He's definitely one of the state's top backs, no question."
Terry, meanwhile, is opposed by Greer bruiser Adrian McGee who is having a fine season. McGee has 596 yards on 66 carries and seven scores.
"We think a lot of our running back too," Young said. "(Adrian) is a multi-talented guy. It'll be fun to watch the two of them (McGee and Terry) out on the field."
The undefeated and No.3-ranked Yellow Jackets (4-0, 1-0) beat Emerald 39-20 last week in their region opener.
Travelers Rest lost 38-0 to Chapman last week. The Devildogs are 3-1, their best start since a 6-5 season in 2004.
Travelers Rest is averaging 27.8 points per game while allowing 22.5. Meanwhile, Greer is scoring at a 40.8 clip while giving up 15.5 points a game.
"They're much improved," Young said. "You can tell their kids are playing with some confidence and a little bit of swagger."
Other playmakers for Travelers Rest include wide receiver Blake Young, who has 64 yards on five catches and two touchdowns. Quarterback Chris Gomia has completed 15 of 24 passes and rushed for 135 yards and a score.
For Greer, quarterback Mario Cusano is completing 56 percent of his passes and has 731 yards and 11 touchdowns. His go-to target, Dorian Lindsey, has accounted for 344 of those yards and six scores.
"Hopefully we continue to get better and show up and play well on Friday night,” Young said.
