Nardia Lloyd's middle school class at Washington Center enjoys taking curriculum-based instruction trips to the bowling alley. Through bowling trips, students are able to work on gross motor skills, turn-taking skills, sportsmanship and practicing appropriate behavior.

Communication is also a huge skill that is practiced on bowling trips. Students are able to communicate their snack choices and needs through tactile picture symbols and voice output devices.

These experiences give the students a chance to practice classroom skills in a real life setting.

Washington Center donates Teddy bears to Children's Hospital

Teddy bears donated from the Washington Center were taken to the Children's Hospital to give to the children right before they go into surgery.

During the holidays, these Teddy bears were decorations on the Teddy bear-themed Christmas tree at the Festival of Trees at the Hyatt downtown Greenville.
Ms. Piper's, Mrs. Stansell's, and Mrs. Sosebee's classrooms asked the faculty at the Washington Center to give new Teddy bears to put on the Christmas tree along with Teddy bear ornaments created by the students. Washington Center donated the 26 new Teddy bears to the Children’s Hospital of the Greenville Health System.
