Kevin Kerr, 7th grade student, was selected as a winner in the Greenville County Conservation & Water Conservation District’s Essay Contest.

Samuel Childers, Hannah Garity and Annlie King, 7th graders at Riverside Middle School, participated in the Duke TIP program and received national and state recognition for their SAT scores.

• Kevin Kerr, 7th grade student, was selected as a winner in the Greenville County Conservation & Water Conservation District’s Essay Contest.  His essay, “Where Does Your Watershed?” was selected as one of the best of 450 submissions.  He will be presented a $50 check at the District’s annual awards banquet on May 9.  His teacher, Mrs. Cindy Woody, will receive a special gift supporting her students and the county’s conservation education programs.

• Mikie Harris, an 8th grader, was named the 3200-meter Region Champion on Friday for winning the two-mile race.  Harris also set the two-mile record at 11:35 in that win. She will compete in the state qualifier on Saturday where she is ranked 4th in the state in the two-mile, 5th in the state in the mile, and is part of the 6th-ranked 4x800 team.
