City Council makes haste of agenda, cancels second July meeting
It was a short night for Greer City Council Tuesday. With the city’s 2015-2016 fiscal year budget set and July typically a month where businesses clear their vacation calendar, the agenda reflected a light meeting.

Here's what transpired:

• Property owned by Blue Wall Real Estate, Inc, at 2980 Green Road was approved for zoning classification of I-1 (industrial).

• Property owned by Swafford Properties, LLC, at 1672 Old Highway 14 was approved zoning classification of I-1 industrial to build a warehouse.

• Board of Zoning Appeals: Appointed Monican Ragin to the at-large seat, replacing Lynn Stewart whose term expired on June 30.

• Cancelled: July 28 City Council meeting.

Employees recognized

• Dwayne Brown, fire department, 20 years

• Ed Driggers, city administrator, 15 years

• Michael Ferrell, police department, 5 years

• Kevin Meadows, fire department, 5 years

Proclamation

City of Greer provided a proclamation to Martin Livingston, Executive Director of the Greenville County Redevelopment Association, for the past 10 years “providing exceptional leadership in the authority’s community development and revitalization efforts. Livington resigned last month.

• Executive session: Council considered one personnel matter and two contractual matters in executive session, taking no action.
