Bob Hope came to Clemson on Oct.7, 1978 to perform at Clemson’s Littlejohn Coliseum.  Almost 85 years ago, Feb. 18, 1938, Hope and Shirley Ross, in the “Big Broadcast” movie, debuted what would turn out to be Hope’s signature song, “Thanks for the Memories”.

Hope reportedly performed “Thanks for the Memories” at the end of his show at Clemson.

Before Hope’s performance that evening, he spotted former Spartanburg Herald-Journal reporter Lou Parris watching a Clemson student learning the dance steps to Hope’s routine and invited Parris for an interview and to follow the entertainer backstage during his show preparation.

The student was scene practicing with Hope before the memorable performance. We are looking for the Clemson student in this photo to identify him.

Send your identification and a known address of the young performer to: [email protected].
