Sam Danner has been promoted to Downtown Development Director for the Greer Development Corporation.
Danner will be responsible for all business retention and new business recruiting initiatives in Greer’s historic downtown. He will lead Tourism Development activities for the GDC and lend assistance to the Greer Station Association.
Danner joined the GDC as office manager in October of 2011. A Greer native, he is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, with a B.S. in Mass Communications. He worked in marketing for the music industry in New York City before returning to South Carolina.
“We are thrilled to have Sam Danner to lead our economic development efforts in Greer’s historic downtown,” said Reno Deaton, GDC Executive Director. “Greer Station has become a well-respected brand representing some of the best entertainment and dining opportunities that the Upstate has to offer and truly unique retail. Sam’s love of the Greer community and his creativity will surely help to preserve and propel the Greer Station brand.”
“It’s hard to adequately express how excited I am about this position and the opportunity to work with a dedicated team that cares about downtown Greer as much as I do,” said Danner. “We’re fortunate in Greer to have organizations, like the Greer Development Corporation, Greer Station Association and the Partnership for Tomorrow, that work closely with our city and communities to help develop the smart growth we’ve experienced downtown. Those groups and our communities make our downtown a special place, and I’m thrilled to join them in continuing to keep Greer unique and growing. I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish over the next few years.”
