Katherine Heidt Dobson loved teaching elementary school aged children and doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dobson’s extended family also included many she befriended at church.
Katherine Heidt Dobson, 94, died Wednesday. She was the widow of Broadus Dobson, whom she was married for 67 years.
The obituary noted that Katherine understood Brodus would never leave Greer, his hometown, and they both settled to raise their family and enjoy their eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She graduated Furman University with a degree in education and taught at Holly Springs, Duke Street and Crestview. Her family said she loved the Lord and church.
The grandchildren often did their homework at “Nanny’s” kitchen table.
It was the kitchen where Katherine made her signature pound cakes that often found their way to friends and family. She hosted large family dinners until later in life when she enjoyed watching her grandchildren at sports events.
