Edwards is President and CEO of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in Greer. The Board of Commissioners at GSP joined Edwards for the celebration of his installment.
Edwards spoke about his goal of developing a five-year strategic plan to help steer the organization.
Edwards joined GSP in July 2009 and has guided the Airport District to an ambitious growth plan that included securing Southwest Airlines, the country’s number one low fare carrier. He is also overseeing the GSP Terminal Improvement Program that is expected to serve two million passengers by 2030.
Edwards has over 20 years of experience in airport and aviation management and was director of the Asheville Regional Airport Authority before coming to GSP.
A land-use study is expected to be produced by the fourth quarter that will designate potential for industrial growth on some of the property at GSP. A $23 million inland port has been designated by the Port Authority that backs up the airport’s property on Highway 290.
