Extreme cold means extra clothing to stay warm
Bitter cold weather will be dropping temperatures into the single digits Monday and Tuesday nights.

Monday’s forecast is rain and snow showers in the morning with sun returning later in the day. A high near 39 is forecast Monday and temperatures rapidly dropping to 9 by midnight.

Extreme cold on Tuesday calls for a high of 26 and low at 14. Strong winds will make the wind-chill factor to near zero or below early each morning.

The Center for Disease Control has offered tips o dressing warmly and staying dry in extreme cold.

The CDS recommends adults and children should wear:

• a hat

• a scarf or knit mask to cover face and mouth

• sleeves that are snug at the wrist

• mittens (they are warmer than gloves)

• water-resistant coat and boots

• several layers of loose-  fitting clothing
