Emily Ferguson visited Greer Memorial Hospital and then hit social media alerting her friends of the free flu vaccine.
Free flu shots are available today at Greer Memorial Hospital in the main lobby. The first session ends at 1 p.m. The afternoon session is 3-6 p.m.
“This is part of our mission, to keep part of the community healthy,” Moore said. “People are embracing it because it’s convenient and some can’t afford to pay for themselves or family.”
Emily Ferguson, a morning producer at WYFF-TV, said the convenience was only half of the advantage. “Free is nice. It’s a very easy process,” she said.
Before leaving the parking lot Ferguson said she was reaching out to her friends on Facebook and Twitter about taking advantage of the health initiative. Greer Memorial offered the free flu shot last year at First Presbyterian and will accommodate as many requests as possible, Moore said. “It’s easier if they come to us, though,” she said.
Greer Memorial administered free flu shots to the city employees on their “Benefit” day two weeks ago.
