Gibson re-elected CPW commissioner for another term

Eugene Gibson won re-election for another term as Greer Commissioner of Public Works in the only municipal race held Tuesday.

Gibson earned 214 votes (78 percent) while challenger Tom Kriese received 56 votes (20 percent). Five write-in votes were not disclosed. Gibson, chair of CPW’s three-member commission, has served as a commissioner since Sept. 1,1982.

Three city council members – Wayne Griffin (District 2), Lee Dumas (District 4) and Judy Albert (District 6) were not challenged and were determined unofficial winners by state law.

Results will be made official at 11 a.m. Thursday when the Greer Election Commission certifies the election results.
