Upstate movie director KT Terry will be shooting a faith-based film called "Unconditional Surrender" throughout the Upstate in 2017. The movie will tackle the PTSD struggle many veterans face upon returning home from combat.
"We lose 22 soldiers a day to suicide due to PTSD and you and I can be part of the solution." stated Terry. "Unconditional Surrender will focus on a soldier's return home to his family, and the battles he struggles with returning to a normal' life."

Harmonica Blow out!/Tribute to Peg Leg Sam! featuring Freddie Vanderford will be held Friday at Grace Hall, 108 Trade St. from 9 p.m.-midnight. Tickets are $10 and a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Lupus Foundation.

Stan Christofferson, owner of the Great Bay Oyster House, was an easy mark for people seeking help with a project that needed some infusion of money or contributions of goods. He was a good place to start because it would prove to be a positive beginning for a community drive.
“I would walk into Stan’s office and he would say, ‘you’re here again? How much do I owe you now chief?’ Anytime we needed something or wanted help Stan was there for us,” Greer Police Chief Dan Reynolds said. Reynolds laughed at the recurring visits that resulted in both teasing each other. Cops for Tots and other fundraisers were always the winners and Stan “provided valuable assistance to us.”
Greer City Council is charging ahead in its quest to create a bigger footprint in Greer Station’s event hosting business. The city’s march forward, without restraints in place, is also beginning to limit the public’s weekend access to the park.
Greer City Council Tuesday night gave unanimous approval (7-0) to a first reading for a new rate structure for its events facilities that include the McKown Center as a multi-purpose venue. The McKown Center, costing around $1 million, is undergoing its final punch list and is ahead of its planned mid-summer opening schedule.

A “Stand Up for Stan” benefit concert Thursday at Grace Hall at 108 Trade Street is all about giving back, Stan Christofferson said.
Christofferson, owner of the Great Bay Oyster House (GBOH), was the recipient of the first benefit last year as friends, customers and business acquaintances helped raise over $6,000 for medical expenses.
A mini-festival is brewing at The Shoppes at The Grapevine open house Thursday.
Wanda Garcia, owner of The Shoppes, has planned an evening, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., that will include music, appetizers and wine. About 40 small business owners will showcase their products that include clothing, arts, crafts, repurposed furniture, candles and signature handcrafted merchandise.
