A Greenville man received a 25-year prison sentence today for possessing large amounts of marijuana, crack cocaine and cocaine.

Ricky H. Mack, 39, was found guilty of trafficking marijuana, trafficking crack cocaine and trafficking cocaine in a jury trial that ended in Spartanburg on Oct. 25. Circuit Judge Mark Hayes sentenced the defendant this afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Mack on Nov. 5, 2009 after receiving a tip that he and another person were going to purchase a large amount of marijuana at a location on Highway 101. Deputies set up surveillance and watched the men exchange about $13,600 for nearly 14.5 pounds of marijuana. Deputies arrested Mack moments later.

During an inventory of the involved vehicles, deputies found nearly 13 grams of powder cocaine and 20 grams of crack cocaine. Mack’s co-defendant, Keith Anthony Johnson, 35, pleaded guilty to trafficking marijuana earlier this year and received a 10-year prison sentence.

Mack’s prior criminal history dates back to 1991 with multiple drug criminal domestic violence convictions. His criminal record includes a conviction for assault and battery with intent to kill.

Mack will serve 80 percent of the prison sentence before he is eligible for release.
