All Greenville and Spartanburg public schools have cancelled school and all its activities Monday due to the statewide forecast associated with Hurricane Irma. All district offices will also be closed.
USC Upstate has announced it cancelled classes Monday, while Spartanburg Methodist College and Converse College reported it is still monitoring Hurricane Irma’s movement and forecast.
Irma forecasts predict sustained winds for Monday between 25-30 miles an hour, and possible wind gusts of up to 50 miles an hour. State buses are not permitted to transport students in winds higher than 30 miles an hour.
• Spartanburg and Greer City Hall will be open on Monday, and reported all essential personnel (police, fire, public services) will be on standby to respond any storm-related incidents that occur over the next couple of days.
