The competition provided some sentimental moments like this one after the cheerleaders performed a routine.
The Greer High School cheerleaders earned first place for the ninth consecutive year and Kinlie Worten was chosen All-American Cheerleader for the second straight year at the University Cheerleaders Camp (UCA) at Lander University.
Worthen, a senior captain, received an invitation to participate as a cheerleader in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City or a holiday parade in London.
UCA is a national organization that holds camps across the country. About 20 high schools from South Carolina competed with varsity, jayvee and some C-teams (middle school).
“They typically worked 12-14 hour days and I am extremely proud of our cheerleaders,” said Carly Brooks, cheerleading coach.
The varsity and jayvee brought home a myriad of honors.
