Greer CPW gas department manager Rob Rhodes accepted the 2015 Green Fleet Leader Award Tuesday in Sumter.
CPW submitted for the award several months ago which highlighted the 20 company compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, the usage of a GPS monitoring system to cut down on idling time and unnecessary vehicles overlapping in the field.
The utility also partnered with Spire CNG to open a CNG fueling station at Hwy. 101 South and Freeman Farm Road, across I-85.
“We were extremely excited to receive this award and believe it shows the outstanding pride Greer CPW takes in promoting alternative fueling sources," said Rob Rhodes, Gas Department Manager.
CPW has offset the amount of carbon dioxide usage of its fleet by approximately 29 percent over gasoline and diesel, according to the company.
