Pontoons were part of 2010 amendment and it was eliminated from subsequent amendments. Commissioners added the craft into its bylaw to encompass the powerless boats.
Commissioners also approved a $283,000 bid to J.L. Construction of Greenville to build a BMW Pump Station. Five bids were received by CPW.
Other business discussed included:
• Cherry, Bekaert & Holland presented its annual audit and were complimentary of CPW’s staff presenting a professional report with no delays. The accounting firm said everything was in order and only offered minor suggestions. Eugene Gibson, Board Commissioner said, “As a banker I enjoyed reading the report and thought CPW did a thorough job.”
• The State Reserve Fund (SRF) Debt Service Reserve has changed its requirements for utilities with an A rating from Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s to contribute half of its reserve. Greer CPW falls into that category. The 2011 SRF required utilities with an A rating to contribute a year’s principle and interest at the rate set by the agency (last year between 3.5 or 3.25 percent). The fund is used by state utilities to provide payments to the SRF if a loan is defaulted.
• Greer remains in a severe drought. The rain Sunday did provide additional water. Commissioners were told lakes Cunningham and Robinson were still above average and spilling freely over their dam walls.
