Greer CPW reports all power restored to customers

Published on Thursday, July 18, 2013

Greer CPW has restored electricity to the approximately 2,000 customers that lost their power last night caused by a thunderstorm with heavy rain and strong winds.

Nick Stegall, CPW General Manager, reported four circuits were tripped about 6 p.m. Wednesday. “By midnight all four circuits were restored and by 5:30 this morning all customers” were back on line, Stegall said.

Water and sewer personnel helped push large trees out of the roadways allowing access for the electric crews, Stegall said. Trees also fell on vehicles and houses.

“Most all electric personnel worked all night. Many support personnel answered phones and performed dispatch functions through the night.”

Stegall posted on CPW’s Facebook his thanks to the employees who worked “safely in the difficult conditions.”

Duke Energy reported several thousand customers remain without power with Greenville and Spartanburg the hardest hit. All Greer and Spartanburg residents reportedly should have power restored by Friday afternoon. Extra crews were brought in to help restore power.
