CPW asked, and was unanimously approved 7-0, by City Council at its Feb. 12 meeting  to put the flags on utility poles along McCall Street for its Centennial Celebration.

“They (flags) will be installed by (CPW) staff and they will be responsible for their removal,” City Administrator Ed Driggers said. “CPW will incur all expenses.”

With that said, it only took council long enough for the role call to approve the request.

CPW announced its agenda for Monday’s (Feb. 26) monthly public meeting at 12:30 p.m. in the Commissioners’ boardroom at 301 McCall Street.

CPW has schedule a Centennial Celebration at the administrative and operations complex on Saturday, April 27 from 4-8 p.m. that will provide music, food and end with a fireworks display at 8 p.m.

The New River Blue Grass Band and Encore will perform during the evening.

CPW is inviting the community – customers and non-customers – to the free event. Food will be available to be purchased through vendors.
