Greer has waited 14 years to get where South Pointe has been for three consecutive years – winners of the state 4A championship.
The South Pointe Stallions, unbeaten (13-0), with a 24-game unbeaten streak, play the Greer Yellow Jackets (12-1), with an 11-game win streak, Friday night at Dooley Field in a 7:30 game.
South Point is the top-ranked team in the state and carries the tag of the No. 5-ranked in the country, according to USA Today, Greer is No.5 in the state.
Both teams exhibit speed and skill players. And offenses that match up in points averaged per game, South Point is scoring 46 points a game and Greer is averaging 45. Both teams won last week’s game: Greer beat Greenville, 47-15, and South Pointe beat Eastside 48-0.

Greer Yellow Jackets
• Quarterback Trey Houston 2,007 passing yards, 721 yards rushing, 45 total touchdowns. He has not been intercepted this season.
• Running back Dre Williams has 1,694 rushing with 14 TDs,
• Wide receiver/defensive back Qua White, Georgia State commit, 63 passes caught, 398 yards rushing, 15 total TDs.
• Safety Jacob Harris 5 interceptions
South Pointe Stallions
• Quarterback Derion Kendrick, Clemson commit, 2,317 yards passing, 25 touchdowns, 913 yards rushing and 14 TDs.
• Wide receiver Scott Robinson, Jr., South Carolina State commit,
• Defensive end Eli Adams, Virginia Tech commit, 14.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 26 quarterback pressures.
The winner will play the winner of the Lower State championship game between Fort Dorchester at Dutch Fork next week at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia for the state championship.
