Ever Ready, of St. James High School, won the business plan competition at the South Carolina Trade Show in Myrtle Beach and advances to the national competition. Life’s PuriTEA of Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas, is also advancing.
This year, because of the limited number of national slots available (24) and the number of states with large numbers of firms, only first place firms from each state were guaranteed a spot in the national competition, according to Christine Haff, Southern Regional Director for Virtual Enterprises International.
The Southern Region, although consisting of 10 states, is one of the smallest regions, with only South Carolina, Florida and Texas active. New York and California, comparatively, have more than 150-plus firms each while South Carolina only has 14 – five more than last year.
Greer's won the competition the past four years and five times overall. Adam Massey is Greer High School’s team’s coach.
Greer's team, Eve's Coffee and Confection, finished third in three categories – best brochure, best employee manual and best booth.
