Will Pitts dribbles away from trouble for the Greer Middle School boys basketball team. Greer is unbeaten at 13-0 with two regular season games remaining.
Two regular season games remain for the Jackets – Monday at Blue Ridge and the regular season finale at home Thursday versus Riverside.
Greer has outscored its opponents by an average of 51-32. The Jackets already clinched the region championship on Monday with a 46-32 win over Greenville.
Magic Moody and Darius Foster lead Greer with an average of 16.8 and 10.8 points, respectively. Sam Gravley and Kaylen Boston average seven points. Noah Hannon, Cameron Woodruff, Kyle Moore, and Darius McCullough all have had good seasons for Greer.
Matt Ramsdell is a second year head coach for Greer with Robbie Gravely and Tim Moody assisting.
“We knew we had a chance at a special season with this group of kids,” Ramsdell said. “They come to practice every day and work extremely hard. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate how much time and energy they have put into this.”
Ramsdell said Greer remains focused. “They just go out and play hard, they win, and they go to the next game. I can tell you that we're all having a great time.”
Greer is within reach of becoming the school’s first unbeaten team in middle school basketball. “They absolutely know for that to happen, they must keep playing one at a time,” said Ramsdell.
The Greenville County Middle School Playoffs will have representatives from each of the three regions in the county.
