Two proclamations and two $5,000 donations were served to Greer Relief at its 80th Anniversary breakfast Tuesday morning at Fairview Baptist Church.

Gov. Nikki Haley sent a proclamation read by Scott Talley, who is running unopposed in the general election for State Senate District 12, and Greer Mayor Rick Danner read a proclamation by the City and City Council. Two $5,000 donations, for the second straight year, were presented on behalf of Greer Memorial Hospital and the Greer State Bank Foundation.

John Mansure, President, Greer Medical Campus at Greenville Hospital System, and Rick Medlock, President/CEO of Greer State Bank and April Staggs, vice president of Commercial Lenders made the check presentations to Greer Relief Executive Director Caroline Robertson and Scott Harke, board member.

The breakfast presentation by Bill Roughton, Director of Development/Business Manager, emphasized the history of Greer Relief and its beginning with one individual in 1936.

Greer Relief receives funding from the United Way of Greenville County and the United Way of the Piedmont. The non-profit relies heavily with donations of time, goods, and money from citizens, businesses, and faith-based groups.

Greer Relief's theme is "A hand up, not a handout."
