Greer and Riverside are among 15 public and private school golf teams participating. Only Chapman and Union are outside Greenville County.
The tournament will be 36 holes over two days with competition beginning Monday and Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Par is 36-36–72.
Greer is led by Ryan Lynn, medalist for the Yellow Jackets in all but one of their tournaments played. The top four scores of the five-person team will count toward the championships. Daniel Pittman, Braxton Dillard, Jake Garrett and Conner Merrell join Lynn on the team.
Riverside’s team has Jonathan Hardee, Preston Cole, Will Strickland, Nathan Banks, Hayden Hadley and Jordan Watson.
Eastside players are Chandler Ayers, Jake Alexander Matt Daniel, Cory Thompson and Geoffrey Sterling.
The battle for the individual championship will include Hillcrest’s Bobby Powell, the first round leader in the 2011 Greenville County Amateur and Riverside’s Jonathon Hardee, the second round leader. Greenville’s Julian Taylor, J.L. Mann’s Brad Tedstone and Eastside’s Chandler Ayer are also contenders.
The tournament field includes 4A powers J.L. Mann and Hillcrest and 3A’s Greenville followed by Greer, Riverside, Eastside, Christ Church, Berea, St. Joseph’s, Wade Hampton, Union, Greenville Tech Charter School, Travelers Rest, Hillcrest, Woodmont and Chapman.
Willow Creek is on S. Highway 101 between Greer and Woodruff.
