Greer teacher receives America Diabetes Lifetime Achievement Award

Woodland Elementary School Physical Education Teacher Corey Parker received the American Diabetes Association’s South Carolina Lifetime Achievement Award.

Corey Parker, Woodland Elementary School Physical Education Teacher, received the American Diabetes Association’s South Carolina Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding support of the ADA at a school assembly on Nov. 1. 

“During eight years of involvement with the ADA, Coach Parker has given tirelessly of his time, energy and resources to help promote awareness of the seriousness of diabetes, and to raise funds to help find a cure for this insidious disease,” said Dianne Roth, executive director, ADA Central Carolinas.

“Coach Parker, has helped raise more than $160,000 for the American Diabetes Association in the past eight years through the association’s School Walk for Diabetes program,” said Brigitte Adley, ADA market manager, Upstate.

A portion of the funds raised is given back to the school to purchase needed equipment and supplies. Woodland Elementary School’s 2013 School Walk for Diabetes campaign is now in progress. The students are helping Parker exceed his $15,000 goal for this year. The campaign ends Nov. 15.
